MANCHESTER, N.H. – A poor shooting first half by the No. 11/23 Assumption University women's basketball team is too much to overcome, as Southern New Hampshire hands the Greyhounds their first loss of the season, 58-49 in Northeast-10 action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started slow due to a 1-for-13 shooting performance in the first quarter, as the Penmen jumped out to an early 15-5 advantage. The Greyhounds' first basket came with 3:05 remaining in the first, as
Monica Spain scored with a layup. Southern New Hampshire extended their lead to 22 points at the half (34-12).
After halftime, Assumption started to close the gap as they outscored the hosts 16-15 in the third quarter.
Marina Callahan hit one shot from a long distance, while Spain hit a pair to close the deficit to 21 points (49-28) through three quarters.
The Greyhounds' defense locked down in the fourth quarter, as they held Southern New Hampshire 1-of-11 from the field and drew within five points (52-47) with 1:05 showing on the clock. The Blue and White could not complete the comeback, as they fell 58-49.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Marina Callahan scored 12 points and pulled down ten rebounds as she registered her second double-double of the season, while Monica Spain had a near double-double with eight points and eight rebounds.
- Ja'Lyn Armstrong filled the stat sheet with ten points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
- Kajihe Hall was perfect shooting on the day, as she was 1-of-1 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
