Kate Carleson proves to be the difference as Assumption University women's soccer team past Holy Family University 2-1 in their season opener Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the early moments, neither side could generate offense. Assumption would capitalize on their first true scoring chance, as
Amaia Astiasaran started a breakaway for
Ashley Wenzel, who beat the Holy Family goalie one-on-one.
The Tigers tied the game up in the 29
th minute, as Bryann Hess scored on a rocket of a shot from 28 yards out. The two teams would head into the intermission tied at 1-1, as both sides registered six shots apiece.
Coming out of the break, Assumption would score the go-ahead goal, as
Athena Kordis crossed the ball into the box, where it found the head of
Kate Carleson, who drove it home. Holy Family University ratcheted up the pressure as they outshot the Greyhounds 14-4 in the second half. Despite the aggressive offense by the Tigers, the Assumption defense held firm to pick up the 2-1 season-opening win.
