Laboissonniere Joins Athletic Communication Department

WORCESTER, Mass. (August 9, 2022) – Assumption Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing Kenneth Swain today announced that Matt Laboissoniere has been hired as the new Athletic Communications Coordinator.

I am thrilled to welcome Matt to the Hound Nation and look forward to his ability to elevate the Assumption University brand," said Swain. "Matt rose to the top of a very talented applicant pool, and his success at the Division I level will help improve the Athletic Communications Office."

Laboissonniere arrives at Assumption after working at the Bryant Sports Network as an on-air talent, videographer, and camera operator for three years. He called play-by-play commentary for the Division I Athletics, serving as the leading man voice for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, field hockey, and softball. He filled in as a broadcaster for men's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, and baseball. He has delivered live-action calls to audience members watching on the Northeast Conference Front Row, Cox Yurview, and ESPN. During ESPN broadcasts of the NEC Women's Lacrosse Championship, he filled in as a statistician, red hat, and time-out coordinator. He notably worked alongside the Bryant University Men's Basketball team that won their first NEC title in the 2021-2022 season and made their first appearance in the NCAA tournament.

"I would like to thank Kenneth Swain and all the administration for bringing me on and giving me this opportunity," stated Laboissonniere. "I am incredibly excited to join Assumption and work alongside many great people. Working in collegiate athletics has always been my goal, and after spending time on campus, I knew Assumption University was a perfect fit. I look forward to helping grow this program even more than it already has."

Beginning in the winter of 2021, Laboissonniere started working as a Game Day Communications Associate with the New England Revolution. In this role, he escorts media pregame and post game and recording and transcribes the post-game press conferences for publication on the Revolution website. During this experience, he has had the opportunity to interact with coaches and players, addressing public relations and media needs.

Starting in the winter of 2021, he began doing freelance journalism work for an MLS blog titled Lionsblog, which highlights and focuses on Orlando City FC. He writes post-game and pregame articles and makes appearances on the blog's podcast.

Throughout his time in college, he served multiple internships. During the summer of 2021, he worked two internships with IGT and Legacy Leagues. With the Legacy Leagues - a men's amateur basketball summer league - he worked as a statistician and video editor and attended all the games. For IGT, he was an intern on the Communications team, serving as a People Communications Intern, developing and publishing news articles for the OneIGT website.

Laboissonniere is a 2022 graduate of Bryant University with a degree in Communication and a double minor in Marketing and Psychology. He participated in Men's Club Soccer and Club Tennis during his four years there. Laboissonniere was a valuable member of the WJMF radio station on Bryant's campus, serving as the Program Director during his junior and senior years. He hosted his own radio show and managed and coordinated the schedule for all the DJs and Talk Show Hosts.
