WORCESTER, Mass. – Football sees a pair of players on the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week. At the same time,
Callie Beauparlant was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the NE10 Conference office on Monday afternoon.
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Tyler Royall, Assumption
Senior | Defensive Back | Silver Spring, Md.
Royall was all over the field in Assumption's 19-14 win over New Haven on Saturday. The safety tallied eight tackles, five solo, two pass breakups, and an interception in the second quarter, which set up a go-ahead field goal to close out the first half.
NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week
Massimo Sgambati, Assumption
Junior | Kicker | Farmington Hills, Mich.
Sgambati went 4-of-5 on field goal attempts in Assumption's 19-14 win over New Haven. The lefty kicker connected from 32, 39, 43, and a career-long 48 yards while also converting on his only PAT of the afternoon. Sgambati leads the NE10 with nine field goals this season, while his 90% field goal percentage ranks second nationally.
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Callie Beauparlant, Assumption
Senior | Midfield | Newburyport, Mass.
The Hounds shut out No. 4 SNHU this week, and Beauparlant was chiefly responsible for the game plan against the nation's leading scorer, Annemartine Christis. Christis, who played all 60 minutes, was held without a point for the third time all season and only got off one shot on goal (her second-lowest output this year). The game matched two 9-0 teams in the conference, and Assumption's win put it in the driver's seat for a regular season NE10 title.
