COLCHESTER, VT. – The Assumption University women's volleyball team opens up Northeast-10 Conference action play with a 3-2 thrilling win at Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two conference foes played a back-and-forth match from the opening service. Assumption maintained the largest margin of five points (22-17) in the first set, but SMC closed out the opening set on an 11-4 run to take the set, 28-26. Assumption came out victorious in the tight second set, 25-23, as the largest lead was two.
In the third set, Saint Michael's had a 23-19 lead before the Greyhounds rattled off five-straight points, making it 24-23 AU. The Purple Knights battled back and took four of the next five-point, as they won the third set 27-25. With their backs against the wall, Assumption would force a fifth set, following a 25-19 fourth set.
In the fifth set, SMC jumped out to an early 5-1 lead before the Greyhounds put together a run of their own (7-5). The two teams would trade runs, but Assumption would finish the match with three straight points to win the set (18-16) and the match (3-2).
