WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University field hockey team needed more than regulation and two overtime periods to defeat American International College, as the Greyhounds pulled off a 1-0 shootout win in their Northeast-10 opening Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For most of the match, neither side would generate any significant scoring opportunities, as both defenses stood firm and had limited transitions. Assumption had late pushes in both the second and fourth quarters, but they we unsuccessful in finding the back of the cage.
Eighty minutes of action would pass, and there was no winner, so the game went into a shootout, which saw
Mia Salah,
Lucy Malia,
Sydney Bouchard, and
Elle Murray score for the Greyhounds. At the same time,
Kylie Gargiulo allowed just one score in four AIC chances, which included a huge save on Logan Shunney.
