MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored five goals in the third period, racing back to defeat Southern New Hampshire University 6-3 in Northeast-10 Conference action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
William Smith put the Greyhounds on top early, scoring on a one-timer in the slot and beating the SNHU netminder to the top glove side at the 3:24 marker. The second period was all Penmen, as the host struck for three powerplay goals to take a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
The game completely flipped in favor of Assumption in the early seconds of the third period, as
Ronny Paragallo recorded a man-up goal 25 seconds from the opening puck drop. Twenty-seven seconds later,
Shane Sullivan evened up the scored his second goal of the year. The floodgates opened up after that, as Smith scored his second of the game (1:34) before
Alexander Mavrogiannis gave the Greyhounds a 5-3 lead just three minutes into the third.
Jimmy McDermott made it 6-3 Assumption, scoring an even-strength goal with under seven minutes remaining in regulation. Despite a late push from the Penmen, the Greyhounds held on and picked up their tenth win of the year.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Drew Benedict recorded 28 saves in the crease for Assumption.
- The two teams fired 33 shots, while the Greyhounds won 41-of-78 faceoffs
- Assumption went 2-for-6 on the man advantage, while Southern New Hampshire went 3-for-9.
- Ten different Greyhounds recorded a point on the evening, as Collin Montgomery had three assists and Shane Sullivan had a pair of helpers.
