MANCHESTER, N.H. – Behind a 34-save shutout from Drew Benedict, the Assumption University men's ice hockey team picked up a weekend sweep of Southern New Hampshire University following a 1-0 win at the Ice Den Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After allowing five third-period goals in Friday's game against Assumption, Southern New Hampshire came out on the attack, as they outshot the visiting Greyhounds 10-8 in the opening 20 minutes. The game would remain scoreless until the 6:27 marker of the second period, as Camron Roberts put Assumption on top. William Roberts won the faceoff off the boards to Thomas McGaffingan, who slipped the puck back to Camron at the point, who one-timed it past the Penmen netminder. The Greyhounds continued to apply pressure for the remainder of the middle frame, as they outshot the hosts 19-7 in the middle 20.  Southern New Hampshire controlled the action in the third period, as they outshot Assumption 17-10. Despite the extra pressure, Drew Benedict shut the door to pick up his second collegiate shutout and a 1-0 win for the Greyhounds. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Drew Benedict recorded 28 saves in the crease for Assumption.
• The Greyhounds outshot SNHU 37-34 while also winning 37-of-57 faceoffs
• Neither team would capitalize on the man advantage, as Assumption went 0-for-2, and the Penmen went 0-for-4.
• Benedict's other shutout came on February 16, 2019, where Assumption won 1-0 at Post.
