RINDGE, N.H. – The No. 10/15 Assumption University women's basketball team used a dominating second half as they defeated Franklin Pierce University 57-24 in Northeast-10 Conference action Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Franklin Pierce scored the first points of the game following a Colette Mulderig free throw, the Greyhounds took over the game.
Marina Callahan made a layup, giving Assumption a lead that they would not relinquish. With under two minutes showing on the clock, a
Molly Stokes jumper pushed the Greyhounds' advantage to eight points (13-5), which they would carry into the second quarter.
In the second, the Assumption lead would increase to ten points as
Ja'Lyn Armstrong hit both of her free throws, making it 15-5. The Ravens would match the Greyhounds throughout the quarter, as both sides scored 13 points in the frame. Assumption would head into halftime up 26-18.
Coming out of the break, the Greyhounds took total control of the game, as they outscored Franklin Pierce 20-2 in the quarter. In the frame, Assumption held the hosts to 1-11 from the field and forced eight turnovers. The Greyhounds carried their defensive momentum into the fourth, as they outscored the hosts 11-4 in the frame to pick up a 57-24 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Ja'Lyn Armstrong led all scorers with 16 points, while Amanda Mieczkowski (11) and Molly Stokes (10) recorded double-digit points.
- Monica Spain filled the stat sheet with eight points, three rebounds, four assists, and five blocks.
- Assumption outrebounded Franklin Pierce 46-29, while the Greyhounds outscored the hosts 22-14 in the paint.
- The Assumption defense held Franklin Pierce to just .170 percent from the field (9-53), which is the lowest shooting percentage since the Greyhounds held Concordia (N.Y.) to .175 on November 9, 2019.
- This was the second time this year that the Assumption defense held their opponent under 30 points. Before, they didn't have a game like that dating back to the 1987-88 season.
