WINCHENDON, Mass. – A fast start by the Greyhounds is enough, as the Assumption University men's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Franklin Pierce University following a 5-4 win Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to find the back of the net, as Colin Montgomery found the back of the net at the 9:15 mark of the first period. Over a minute later,
Ryan Decker doubled the Greyhound lead with a four-on-four score.
Franklin Pierce got on the board early in the second period, as they scored 12 seconds into the frame. Twenty-six seconds later,
Dara Conneely regained the two-goal advantage for Assumption. After the Ravens got within one,
Michael Zampanti found the back of the net at 8:18. Conor Foley got Franklin Pierce within one following his power play strike with 2:53 left in the second.
Cody Rumsey tied the game early in the third period, but
William Smith scored the eventual game-winner at the 13:14 mark.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Michael Hauswirth and Drew Benedict combined to record 29 saves in the crease for Assumption.
- Both sides fired 33 shots aside while also splitting the faceoffs 38-38.
- Assumption went 2-for-8 on the man advantage, while Franklin Pierce went 1-for-3.
- The Greyhounds are 17-7-3 in the month of January over the past three years.
