NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Haleigh Ward scored in the 83rd minute, as the Assumption University women's soccer team recorded a 1-1 tie at Southern Connecticut State University, Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the early portion of the contest, the two teams were sizing their opposition up, as neither team would take any high-risk chances. Assumption was the first team to have grade-A chances, as Delaney Farinha started a run of six straight shots by the Greyhounds over the next 17 minutes. Southern Connecticut had a flurry of late chances in the tail end of the first half, but Frida Larsson stood tall in the net and recorded three saves for Assumption.
The scoreless tie would continue until the 83rd minute when Haley Brown slipped a through ball to Haleigh Ward, who buried the shot into the bottom right corner of the cage. The Owls would respond less than two minutes later, as Alexie Rosado snuck a shot inside the far post. SCSU had a chance with under two minutes remaining in regulation, but Larrson stopped the shot from Taylor Hennig.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Larrson recorded seven stops for the Greyhounds.
