MacDougall and Hasund headline NE10 Weekly Awards

10/9/2023 3:34:00 PM

WORCESTER, Mass. – Joseph MacDougall and Peter Hasund earned Northeast-10 Conference awards, while five others were named to the Honor Roll mentions announced by the NE10 Conference office on Monday afternoon.

Joseph MacDougall picked up his second NE10 Special Team's Player of the Week, as he recorded his fourth block in the last three games; his field goal block in the second quarter turned what would be a 10-0 game into a 17-0 game, as Shakeer McPherson returned the block 86 yards for a scoop and score. He only had two tackles on the defensive side, but he added two pass breakups, one tackle for a loss, and eight quarterback pressures.

Peter Hasund was named NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, as he scored two goals in Assumption's 3-0 win at Adelphi. This was the Greyhounds' first win over the Panthers in program history. He scored the opening goal in the 15th minute before sealing the win with a midfield strike in the final minute of regulation. On the defensive end, he was a crucial part in Assumption stifling the Adelphi attack, as they limited the Panthers to just one of their 20 shots on target.

Honor Roll
Jake Cady accounted for 186 total yards and three touchdowns in Assumption's 38-14 win over American International College. On his two passing touchdowns, he connected with Gavin Johnson on plays of 8 and 35 yards. Cady had one rushing score on the afternoon as he took a read option 50 yards to the house to seal the win for the Greyhounds.

Lily Daly pushed her point streak to six games following a six-point week. She logged two goals at American International before scoring another at Adelphi on Saturday. In both games, Daly was credited with the game-winning goal.

Paige Gillette extended her shutout streak to three and six of the last seven games. She recorded two saves in each contest in two road games this week, as Assumption pushed their winning streak to seven games. Gillette currently leads the NE10 in goals-against average (0.14), save percentage (0.941), wins (7), and shutouts (6) in conference action.

Iver Sjåvåg logged his second straight clean sheet, as he just needed to make one save in the win at Adelphi. This was the Greyhounds' first win over the Panthers in program history.

Brandi Montoya averaged 6.00 digs per set in two matches this week for the Greyhounds. Against New Haven, she logged 14 digs and four assists at home. On Friday, the senior libero recorded 28 digs in the four-set match at Southern Connecticut.
