THE BASICS
Score: Assumption University 4, Saint Anselm College 3 - OT
Records: Greyhounds (5-1-0, 3-1-0 NE10) | Hawks (1-5-1, 1-3-1 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks came storming out of the gates in the first period. Saint Anselm opened the scoring in the first six minutes of the game. Alec Grace passed inside to Hunter Brackett, who buried the puck in the top left corner. Less than three minutes later, the Hawks again applied the pressure on Assumption. Tommy Schwartz connected with Will Christensen to give the Hawks a commanding two-score lead. However, the Hounds fought back. With 2:39 to play in the first period, Ronny Paragallo emerged from a cluster of blue and white jerseys and scored off several rebound attempts to chip away at the Saint Anselm lead. Approximately 30 seconds later, Ryan Decker stole the puck away from the Hawks' and took it for an equalizing goal to even the score at two  piece.

Assumption's momentum quickly disappeared as Saint Anselm continued their early starts to the period. In under six minutes, once again, Jac Cordeiro found Max Burum with a pass across the middle. Burum was at point-blank range and scored to regain the lead for the Hawks. The Greyhounds had several opportunities to even the score once again. However, the Hawks' defense remained solid. Leonard Brochu III looked to extend Saint Anselm's lead with a powerful slapshot. Ronny Paragallo stepped in front of the shot for a considerable deflection. Ryan Decker found Shane Sullivan for a clean shot attempt for the Hounds, although the Hawks' goalie, Cam Carroll broke up the try. Assumption trailed 3-2 heading into the last period.

The Greyhounds desperation to even the score was evident in the third period. Patrick McKiernan, Ryan Decker, and Shane Sullivan fired a barrage of shots at Saint Anselm; however, none could find the back of the net. Ronny Paragallo was left with a golden opportunity for a one-on-one chance with 6:54 to play, although Carroll made an excellent save for the Hawks. Jonathan Surrette was able to even the score for Assumption shortly after. Surrette stole the puck away and began his breakaway. Surrette would go forehand to backhand and finish his shot at the top of the goal to tie the game with four minutes remaining. The Greyhounds were able to hang on and force overtime.

Assumption applied the pressure throughout the entirety of overtime. Paragallo had an excellent chance at a winner for the Hounds. However, his shot ricocheted off of the post. With barely a minute to play, Leo Piandes would find the back of the net for the Greyhounds as they defeated Saint Anselm 4-3 in the final minute of overtime.
