GARDNER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team opened Northeast-10 Conference action with authority, as the Greyhounds picked up a 7-3 win over Franklin Pierce University at the Gardner Veterans Arena Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption controlled most of the action in the early portion of the first period. The Greyhounds earned an early power play, firing six shots on target, but could not beat Jeremey Connor between the pipes for the Ravens. Assumption would go on top in the first period's final minute, as Jake Lavoie beat Connors to the top blocker side with a wrister. The Ravens tied the game with 22.3 showing on the first-period clock, as Tyson Springer scored. Assumption would outshoot Franklin Pierce 18-3 and won 16 of 17 faceoffs.
In the second period, the Greyhounds exploded for three goals as John Woernle, Jonathan Surrette, and Ronny Paragallo etched their names on the scoresheet. Nicholas Tessier cut the deficit to 4-2 for the Ravens as he tickled the twine with 50.0 left in the middle frame.
In the third period, Franklin Pierce closed the game in the shot department, but it was Assumption who continued to pull away. Patrick McKiernan struck twice, while Sean Corliss netted his first of the year.

- Thomas McLarnon recorded 15 saves for his third win of the year.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 53-26, winning 43 of 58 faceoffs.
