FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the third period to rally past the Fitchburg State University Falcons, 5-3, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
As Alexandre Bauvais struck at the 5:37 marker, Fitchburg State would go up early. The Falcons lead doubled two minutes later as Hunter Dunn scored, making it 2-0. Assumption got on the board before the end of the first, as
Jake Lavoie recorded his third goal of the year on the man-advantage at 11:54. Despite being outscored in the opening 20 minutes, the Greyhounds outshot the hosts 13-11 and won 13-of-21 faceoffs.
The Greyhounds tied the game early in the second period, as
Leo Piandes scored 40 seconds into the frame. The Falcons responded with a score at the 3:29 marker. The hosts would carry a 3-2 lead into the third period after outshooting Assumption 15-11 in the frame.
Assumption would capitalize on the two early power plays in the third period, as
Ryan Decker netted two man-up goals to give the Greyhounds a 4-3 advantage.
Jonathan Surrette would ice the game with 41.2 seconds on the clock as he scored an empty net goal.
