HOW IT HAPPENED
Johnson & Wales was the first team to strike, as they scored on the powerplay halfway through the first. Assumption responded three minutes later as
Jonathan Surrette found
Ronny Paragallo for a near-post goal. The Greyhounds capped off the opening period with a late goal, as
Ryan Decker's shot, which initially went off the post, trickled past the Wildcat netminder, giving Assumption the 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
In the second period, Assumption pushed their advantage to 3-1 after a Surrette power-play goal at the 11:34 marker. The Wildcats would not go quietly, as they struck for three goals, including the game-tying goal with 2:12 showing on the game clock.
In the extra period, McLarnon stopped Brendan Doyle on a breakaway opportunity. The Wildcats would come away with the win, as they will score on the man advantage with Joe Freeman netting the game-winner.
