COLCHESTER, VT. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team dropped their second-straight game, as the Greyhounds fell to Saint Michael's College 4-0 Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out on the attack, as they out Saint Michael's 12-6 in the first 20 minutes. The Purple Knights opened the scoring in the opening moments of the middle frame, as Owen Rudicus scored at 1:17. The SMC lead would double by the end of the frame, as Matt Schriener found the back of the net at the 14:25 marker.
The lead would remain 2-0 in favor of the Purple Knights until the 5:27 showed on the third-period clock, as Zach Taylor pushed the host's advantage to three goals. Sam Johnson tacked on an empty net goal with two minutes remaining in regulation to secure a 4-0 win for Saint Michael's College.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Drew Benedict recorded 28 saves in the crease for Assumption.
- The Greyhounds outshot the Purple Knights 41-32, while Assumption won 35-of-68 faceoffs.
- Neither side was able to score on the power play, as both sides went 0-for-2 on the man advantage
- This was the first time Assumption was shut out all season and just the third time since 2021.
