COLCHESTER, VT. – Shane Sullivan recorded three points, but the Assumption University men's ice hockey team fell to Saint Michael's College 4-3 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption University came out on the attack and would eventually take their first lead of the weekend series with five minutes remaining in the first period, as
Shane Sullivan found the back of the net. The lead was short-lived, as Case Kantgias and Matt Schreiner scored for Saint Michael's to take a 2-1 lead into the first-period intermission.
The Greyhounds tied the game at 2-2 as Sullivan recorded his second goal of the game at 8:04 of the middle frame. The Purple Knights responded with a goal with 4:45 showing on the clock, as they carried a 3-2 lead into the third period.
Trailing 3-2 entering the third period, the Greyhounds had an early goal by
Colin Philippon at the 2:05 mark to tie the game. While short-handed, Zach Taylor scored on a slapshot from the top of the circle with 10:29 remaining in regulation. Despite a late push, the Greyhounds would fall short and suffer their first three-game losing skid since a four-game losing streak in the middle of the 2021-22 season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Drew Benedict recorded 19 saves in the crease for Assumption.
- The Greyhounds outshot the Purple Knights 44-23, while Saint Michael's had a slight edge in the faceoff circle, as SMC won 37-of-73.
- Both sides had one powerplay goal: Assumption was 1-for-4, and Saint Michael's was 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
