WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by a double-double from
Monica Spain and a career-high 20 points from
Amanda Mieczkowski, the No. 7/13 Assumption University women's basketball team recorded a 54-38 win at Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Michael's jumped out to an early lead, but it was extinguished as
Monica Spain hit a layup and
Molly Stokes drained a three, putting Assumption up 8-5.
Teagan Kamm converted on a layup to push the Greyhounds' advantage up to five (10-5, 5:08). The two teams traded the next few baskets, but
Amanda Mieczkowski had a buzzer-beating jumper to put the visitors up six (18-12) after ten minutes.
In the second period, the scoring slowed, as the Purple Knights outscored the Greyhounds 6-4 in the frame. After halftime, Assumption restarted their offense, as they exploded for 20 points in the frame. Mieczkowski recorded ten points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe. The Greyhounds' lead extended to 13 points by the end of the third quarter, as Stokes had a putback rebound at the buzzer.
Assumption slowed the pace down in the fourth quarter, yet they still saw their lead grow to 17 points (54-37, 3:50). Saint Michael's would hit one free-throw down the stretch, as the Greyhounds would pick up their 19
th win of the year, following a 54-38 final score.
