SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 13/18 Assumption University women's basketball team fell late, as they came up on the wrong end of a 58-57 decision at Le Moyne College Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a battle between the two top teams in the conference, the score reflected it from the opening tip, as neither side had a lead larger than six points. The two teams traded baskets for the majority of the first quarter, as both sides had a three-point lead at various parts of the frame. The Dolphins would hold a 16-13 lead after ten minutes.
 
The back-and-forth affair would continue into the second quarter, with Assumption outscoring the hosts 16-12 in the quarter and carrying a one-point advantage into halftime (29-28). Le Moyne came out of intermission aggressively, as they turned a one-point deficit into a six-point lead in a matter of 1:54 of game time. The Greyhounds responded with a 10-0 run of their own and 12-of-13, as they regained a five-point lead (41-35). Le Moyne converted on their free throws in the final four minutes of the third, as they would eventually tie the game at 42-42 after hitting five free throws down the stretch.

In the fourth, neither side was able to pull away, as the two teams traded baskets. Assumption had the largest lead of the quarter, as both Ja'Lyn Armstrong and Kaijhe Hall made layups, giving the Greyhounds a two-point advantage, with Hall's coming at 3:41. The game would go down to the wire, as Assumption had a one-point lead (57-56) with the ball and 22 second left in regulation. The Greyhounds were called for a moving screen giving the Dolphins the ball. Haedyn Roberts put Le Moyne on top with eight seconds left in regulation as she converted on a putback layup. The Greyhounds had a chance at the buzzer, but it would not be successful and the host would come away with a 58-57 decision.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Molly Stokes led the Greyhounds with 11 points, while Ja'Lyn Armstrong and Amanda Mieczkowski recorded ten points.
• Anna Davis pulled down ten rebounds, and Armstrong has a game-high seven assists.
• Assumption outrebounded LMC 37-32, while the Greyhounds outscored the hosts 28-26 in the paint.
• Le Moyne went 18-for-25 from the charity stripe, while Assumption was 3-for-5 from the free throw line
