ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team suffers their first loss of the year, as they fell to Roberts Wesleyan University 10-7 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The hosts were the first team to score, as Dan Doviak scored at 13:35 of the first quarter. The Greyhounds responded two minutes later as
James Grinstead beat the Redhawks' goalkeeper. Assumption continued to find the back of the cage as they closed out the opening 15 minutes with a 4-0 run, as
Nolan Sheehan,
Jackson Bulger, and
Ryan Healey. Roberts Wesleyan closed the gap to one goal following a two-goal period, as Gunner MacMillian and Doviak scored.
Coming out of halftime, the Redhawks continued the momentum, outscoring the Greyhounds 5-2 in the quarter. The hosts won 6-of-7 faceoffs while also outshooting Assumption 15-12 in the frame, as they carried an 8-6 lead into the fourth quarter. RWU opened up the final quarter with a goal at 11:25 to go up 9-6, but
CJ Wiper responded for Assumption, as he potted his second goal of the season three minutes later. The Redhawks added one more strike with 6:55 showing on the clock. RWU would eventually run out the clock to deal the Greyhounds' their first loss of the season, 10-7.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Colin Malone recorded 16 saves in the crease for Assumption.
- The Redhawks outshot the Greyhounds 41-39, while Roberts Wesleyan won 13-of-20 faceoffs.
- Ryan Healey was the only Assumption player with multiple points, as he registered two goals and one assist.
