SHREWSBURY, Mass. – The Assumption University women's rowing team hosted the Assumption Duals on Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond as they hosted Franklin Pierce University, Simmons University and Bryant University.
The Greyhounds competed in the Varsity 8+ race, placing fourth with a time of 8:42.8. Bella Baker coxed the young crew with
Bella Perryman in stoke seat followed by
Olivia Shan, Katie Ickes, Izzy Anzalone,
Nicole St. Germaine,
Brianna Rawlston,
Hannah Pennings and
Carly Duval sitting bow. The fledging eight put up a good battle for the first 1000m of the 2000m course but fell behind in the second half to the eventual winner Bryant (7:39.36), followed by Franklin Pierce (8:01.86) and Simmons (8:28.41).
Later in the morning, the Greyhounds competed in the Varsity 4+ race and managed a third place finish out of four boats, posting a 9:19.85 rowing in very windy conditions. The four was once again coxed by Bella Baker and stroked by
Bella Perryman with
Olivia Shan,
Hannah Pennings and
Carly Duval rounding out the boat.
