HOW IT HAPPENED
The Purple Knights wasted no time getting going on the road in Worcester, collecting three runs in the top of the first inning. Assumption answered right away in the first, as
Christopher Rabias doubled, scoring
Connor Wironen and Owen Podelec.
Jack Barry singled in Rabias to tie the score at 3-3.
Jared Beradino got in on the action in the bottom of the third, singling to left field to score Rabias, but that's all they would manage, so they carried a 4-3 lead into the fourth inning. The Greyhounds bats kept going as Rabias tripled in
Jake Hamel in the fourth, followed by Podelec singling to center and scoring Rabias to give Assumption a 6-3 lead.
The Hounds added one more to lead 7-3 into the fifth inning. Assumption kept the damage going as
Cole Durkan's single into right field scored two runs, increasing their lead up to 10-3. In the bottom of the eighth, Assumption increased their lead to ten, and the game ended there on a coach's decision, with the Greyhounds winning 14-4.
Shea Ryan picked up his first win of the year, as he tossed 6.1 innings, where he struck out five and allowed just one run.
