CAMDEN, NJ. – The Assumption University women's rowing team competed in the women's novice four and women's novice eight at the Knecht Cup Regatta this past weekend.
RESULTS
The Greyhounds placed fourth in their heat in the novice eight with a time of 8:46.59. Bella Baker coxed the young crew with
Bella Perryman in the stoke seat, followed by
Olivia Shan, Katie Ickes, Izzy Anzalone,
Nicole St. Germaine,
Brianna Rawlston,
Hannah Pennings, and
Carly Duval sitting bow. Monmouth University won the race in 7:54.51, with West Virginia University coming in second at 8:20.8. The greyhounds were just edged out by the University of New Hampshire (8:43.42) for third by 3 seconds.
Earlier in the morning, the Greyhounds rowed in the novice 4+ race and managed a third-place finish out of four boats, posting a 9:04.05, holding off Stockton University (9:11), who put up a late charge in the final 250 meters of the 2000m race. The University of Pittsburgh won the heat in 8:31.02, and Lafayette finished second in 8:42.65. The Greyhounds fell just two spots short of earning a trip to the petite finals. Their time also put them ahead of the University of Maryland Baltimore, Franklin & Marshall, University of New Hampshire, Army, and Thomas Jefferson University. The four was again coxed by Bella Baker and stroked by
Bella Perryman, with
Olivia Shan,
Hannah Pennings, and
Carly Duval rounding out the boat.
