ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team snapped their losing streak as they pulled away in the second half to defeat Molloy University 14-6 on Wednesday evening in non-conference lacrosse action.

Records: Greyhounds (3-9, 1-7 NE10), Lions (8-7, 3-1 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption opened up the game with a goal through
Nolan Sheehan, and he scored again just a couple of minutes later to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead with 10:35 left. Molloy would respond and tie it after the first quarter 3-3.
The second was more back-and-forth action where both sides added two goals apiece and tied 5-5 at halftime.
Sam Maciel added his first on the night, and Sheehan added his third.
The second half was complete domination by the Greyhounds, as they went on a 9-1 run in the second half to entirely run away with the game. Multiple scorers got in on the action, including
Ryan Bogar,
CJ Wiper,
Zach Barden,
Ryan Healey, and Maciel and Sheehan. Molloy could only add one with 4:51 remaining, but it was not enough. In combination with this scoring stretch and good goaltending by
Colin Malone, Assumption picked up a 14-6 win on the road.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Collin Malone had 13 saves on the night for the Greyhounds
- Nolan Sheenan led the Hounds with five goals and one assist, good for six points on the evening.
- Assumption won the shot battle 48-39; however, the Lions had 35 ground balls to the 'Hounds 34
