RINDGE, N.H. – The Assumption University baseball team fell in a pair of extra-inning games at Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action, Friday afternoon, as the Greyhounds fell in game one 6-5 in 11 innings before dropping game two 5-4 in nine frames.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Franklin Pierce University 6, Assumption University 5 – 11 Innings
Franklin Pierce was the first team to get on the board, as Adam Dadinos drove in Ian Battipaglia with a single to right field. The Greyhounds answered in the top of the third inning, as both
Jake Hamel and
Connor Wironen had two-run homeruns in the frame.
Macguire O'Sullivan silenced the Raven's bats until the bottom of the eighth, where FPU plated three runs to tie the game. Assumption would tie the game in the top of the ninth, as Hamel singled to centerfield, plating
Cole Durkan on the play. FPU had a chance to walk off in the bottom of the ninth, as they had first and second with no outs, but
John Davis escaped the jam with a pop-out and a pair of strikeouts.
In the bottom of the 11
th, Hunter Wilichoski hit a 2-0 pinch-hit homerun to left field, walking it off for the Ravens in game one.
GAME TWO – Franklin Pierce University 5, Assumption University 4 – 9 Innings
Assumption was the first team to strike, as
Jared Berardino drove in a pair with a single to right field in the top of the first.
Jack Barry made it 3-0 Greyhounds following his base knock to score
Owen Podolec.
After Franklin Pierce got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, Berardino struck again for the Hounds as he drove in Wironen with a single to center. The Ravens responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4.
FPU would walk off for the second time on the day in the bottom of the ninth, as Jake Miller's single to right field plated Joseph Pesce from second on the base knock.
Shea Ryan and
Corey Chiappone combined to pitch 7.1 innings with eight strikeouts and three earn runs.
