SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After dropping game one 4-2, the Assumption University baseball team's bats came alive with a 23-2 win at American International College Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – American International College 4, Assumption University 2
American International started fast, as they plated one run in each of the first three innings. The Yellow Jackets added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh to go up 4-0 on the Greyhounds.
The Assumption offense wouldn't get going until the top of the ninth as
Jared Berardino had a one-out double down the left-field line. After being pinch ran for by
Emilio Acosta, Acosta scored on an
Eric Giarnese RBI double.
Jack Barry cut the deficit to 4-2 following his base knock up the middle, plating Giarnese from second on the play. Despite the late rally, the Greyhounds' rally would come up short, as they would fall 4-2.
MacGuire O'Sullivan took the loss despite striking out seven over 6.0 innings.
GAME TWO – Assumption University 23, American International College 3
Assumption had their offense clicking from the first pitch of game two, as they plated four runs in the top of the first innings. Berardino started the scoring with a single through the left side of the infield, scoring Giarnese on the play.
Jake Hamel followed Berardino's single with one of his own, as he scored Acosta, making it 2-0 Greyhounds.
Eric Preston made it 3-0 'Hounds, as he doubled down the left field line before Hamel scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Kevin Cox.
The Yellow Jackets nearly responded in the bottom half of the frame. With the bases loaded, Ritchie Segura roped a line drive to the left-center field gap, but Acosta made a diving catch to keep the hosts off the board. Assumption broke open the game in the second inning as they plated six runs in the frame to go up 10-0, with Hamel and Cox driving in a combined five runs in the inning.
Jack Barry put his stamp on the game in the third and fourth inning, as the second basemen hit two homeruns, with one being a two-run shot, and the fourth inning blast drove in three. AIC got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth innings, as they plated one run in the frame to cut the deficit to 15-1.
Assumption added three runs in the top of the fifth, thanks to a two-run homerun by
Nick Paharik and an RBI double off the bat of Giarnese. After AIC responded with one run in the bottom of the fifth, the Greyhounds added four runs in the sixth.
Christopher Manzo had an RBI double off the left field fence before Paharik hit a three-run shot later. Paharik continued to swing a hot bat as the freshman finished his 3-for-3 performance with an RBI double in the top of the seventh, giving him six RBI on the day.
Kyle Keating captured the win for the Greyhounds, pitched 4.0 innings, and allowed just one run while striking out six.
