WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey used two first-period goals to propel them to a 5-2 win over Stonehill College in New England Women's Ice Hockey Alliance action, Saturday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to strike, as Rachel Ageter put the Greyhounds up 1-0 at the 10:41 marker of the first period.
Ella Rago doubled the host's lead in the final minute of the opening frame, scoring off a turnover in the attacking zone.
Stonehill got on the board in the second, as Maddison Achtyl beat the Assumption netminder at 13:28.
Emma Gurnell regained a two-goal lead for the Greyhounds as she sniped a wrist shot past the Skyhawk goaltender with 31 seconds remaining in the frame.
Lilly Corso pushed the Assumption advantage to three goals, scoring her first collegiate tally at 9:38 of the third period. Achtyl struck again for Stonehill to make it 4-2, but an empty net score by
Alexa Hanrahan secured the 5-2 win for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jadyn Weiser logged 24 saves en route to the Greyhounds win.
- Assumption has a slight advantage in the shot department, outshooting the opposition 29-26. The Greyhounds won 27-of-46 faceoffs on the evening.
- Neither team scored on the powerplay, as Stonehill was 0-for-1, while Assumption was 0-for-3.
- Stonehill now leads the all-time series 3-1-0.
