Saint Anselm snaps Men's Ice Hockey nine-game NE10 winning streak

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team dropped their first Northeast-10 Conference game in over two months, as the Greyhounds fell to Saint Anselm College 5-2, Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Anselm was the first team to score, as Max Burum scored on the PP at 2:19 of the first period. The Hawks doubled their lead at the 13:17 marker as Hunter Brackett netted an even-strength tally.
 
Ronny Paragallo cut the deficit in half at 1:51 of the second period, but five minutes later, the Hawks regained the two-goal advantage with Brackett's second of the game. In the tail end of the middle frame, Jonathan Surrette got the Greyhounds' within one goal, as he scored on the power play at 16:30. With under 22 seconds remaining in the period, Brackett picked off a pass in the neutral zone and scored a short handled goal.
 
Tommy Schwartz netted the lone goal in the third period to sink the Greyhounds 5-2.
 
 INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Thomas McLarnon recorded 28 saves for the Greyhounds.
  • Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 38-33, the Hawks won 35-of-64 faceoffs.
  • The Greyhounds went 1-for-8 on the powerplay, while Saint Anselm went 2-for-4.
  • Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 35-14-3.
