WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team came up short for the second-straight night, as they fell to Long Island University 2-1 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Long Island University was the first team to strike, as Ashley Morrow scored on the powerplay at 16:48 of the opening period. The Sharks controlled the majority of the action, as they outshot the Greyhounds 16-6. Assumption flipped the script in the middle frame, as they outshot LIU 13-8, but Anya Weilandt extended the Sharks' advantage with her tally at 2:15. Delaney Williams, who beat the opposition defense, and beat the LIU netminder on the breakaway.
Neither team would be able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game despite Assumption hitting two or three posts. LIU would hold on for their second straight 2-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jadyn Weiser recorded 39 saves for Assumption.
- Sharks outshot the Greyhounds 39-31, while LIU won 24-of-46 of the faceoff.
