WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the final eight minutes of regulation to rally past Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Franklin Pierce was the first team to score, as Tyson Springer found the back of the net at 8:33 of the first period. The Ravens' lead would double three minutes later as Austin Pick scored on a one-timer. Assumption would get on the board with 2:40 showing on the first-period clock, as he beat the FPU netminder on the power play.
The Ravens were the lone team to score in the second period, as Douglas McGuire put Franklin Pierce up 3-1 through 40 minutes. The Greyhounds would not go quietly as they opened the third period on the attack.
Ronny Paragallo got Assumption within one at 11:53, as his shot from the near faceoff circle bounced past the Ravens' netminder. Twenty-four seconds later,
William Roberts tied the game, as
Patrick McKiernan and
Jimmy McDermott won a battle on the boards and found Roberts in the slot. His wrist shot tied the game at 12:17. The Greyhounds' onslaught would continue, as they fired 36 shots in the period to just 16 for Franklin Pierce. The dam would eventually break as
Jonathan Surrette found the back of the net on the man's advantage with 2:43 left in regulation. FPU would pull the goalie, but it would not be enough, as Assumption picked up the 4-3 Northeast-10 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Callum Welch logged 41 saves in the win for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 55-44 while winning 42 of 66 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 2-for-5 on the powerplay, while the Ravens were 0-for-2.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 32-20-1.
