WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team dropped their home opener to Franklin Pierce University, 4-0, in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Franklin Pierce was the first team to score, as Maggie Korneta cracked the scoreboard halfway through the first period. The Ravens opened up the scoring in the second period, as they struck for a pair of tallies. Julia Stevens netted a goal in the opening minute of the frame before Brynn Levinson netted an unassisted tally at 6:33 of the frame.
In the third period, the visitors extended their lead to 4-0 following Bo Dean's score halfway through the frame.
Jenna Chaplain got the Hounds on the board at the 13:47 marker, as she netted her first goal of the year following a clean win in the right faceoff dot. Despite a flurry of chances in the closing minutes, they could not cut into the deficit.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Carissa Mudrak logged 18 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Neither team scored on the power play, as Assumption was 0-for-5 and Franklin Pierce was 0-for-2.
- The Hounds doubled up the Ravens in shots, 44-22, yet the visitors won 24-of-47 faceoffs.
- Franklin Pierce now leads the all-time series 3-1-1.
