WORCESTER, Mass. – After winning the first set, the Assumption University women's volleyball team dropped three straight sets to fall to Southern Connecticut State University 3-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Southern started 4-0, Assumption responded five straight. The two teams would continue the first set trading runs. With the score tied 10-10, the Greyhounds would go on an 11-3 run to go up 21-13. The Owls would attempt a comeback, but the Hounds would fend them off for a 25-16 opening set win.
In the second set, the two teams exchanged most of the points in the early going. With Assumption leading 16-15, SCSU went on a 10-4 run to capture the second set 25-19. The third set would carry the same script as the second, with the two teams trading points, as both teams would be within a few points of one another. With the Owls leading 19-18, the visitors would go up two sets to one, following a 6-2 run.
Southern Connecticut carried their momentum from the previous set to race out to a 5-2 lead in the fourth set. After the Greyhounds tied the set at 5-5, the Owls would slowly stretch their lead to nine points and secure a 25-16 fourth-set win.
