GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Assumption University women's volleyball team fell to Adelphi University in straight sets Tuesday evening.

Records: Greyhounds (5-11, 0-3 NE10), Panthers (13-7, 3-1 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Adelphi, ranked No. 1 in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, overpowered Assumption in three sets, winning 25-9, 25-20, 25-21.
The Greyhounds struggled early, hitting just .056 in the first set, while the Panthers hit a blistering .654. Assumption improved in the final two sets, highlighted by
Anna Dean leading the offense with eight kills and four service aces by
Marissa Billone. Despite a push in both sets, the Greyhounds couldn't overcome the Panthers' balanced attack, with Kalena Ricketts leading the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Kalena Ricketts had 12 kills, hitting .769 for Adelphi.
- Assumption's Anna Dean led the Greyhounds, contributing to 8.5 points.
- The Hounds had eight service aces to the Panthers' three.
- Adelphi leads the all-time series 28-6.
