WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University football team scored 13 unanswered points to rally past Bentley University to capture a 16-13 Northeast-10 Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bentley was the first team to strike, as Vinnie Holmes had a three-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter. Assumption got on the scoreboard on their second drive of the second quarter with a 24-yard field goal. The Falcons responded on one play, as Brett Pullman hit Rashon Bradford for a 74-yard touchdown pass to go up 13-3. The two teams would head into halftime, with Bentley maintaining a 13-3 lead.
The Greyhounds defense locked down the Falcons' offense out of the break.
Massimo Sgambati connected on a 35-yard field goal, cutting the deficit to 13-6. On the ensuing possession, Bentley strung together a 12-play, 64-yard drive, which stalled inside the five-yard line. Mason Campbell lined up for a 20-yard field goal, but it was blocked by
Jaron Wilson and scooped and scored by
Shakeer McPherson, tying the game at 13-13. Two possessions later,
Dion Kuinlan picked off the Falcons' quarterback, setting up a 31-yard chip shot by Sgambati, giving the Hounds their first lead of the game at 16-13.
Bentley had a chance late in the fourth quarter, but the visiting Falcons went for a fourth and one at the Assumption 28-yard line. A massive stop by Joseph Krauza forced a turnover on downs by the traveling Falcons. The Greyhounds finished off the final 2:40 on the clock, which was capped by
Kameron Robbins, who rumbled for 39 yards, securing Assumption a 16-13 win over Bentley.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jay Kastantin led the way through the air for the Greyhounds, as he went 17-for-42 for 175 yards.
- Kameron Robbins was the top back for Assumption, as he had 15 carries for 77 yards, with a long of 39 yards to seal the game in the fourth quarter.
- Quinn Sieger was once again the top target for the passing game, hauling nine receptions for 77 yards, while Gavin Johnson had the longest catch for the Hounds, pulling down a 43-yard reception.
- Dion Kuinlan was all over the field for Assumption, as the safety had 14 tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception.
- Gabriel Bertolazzo was a key part of the win for the Hounds, as the punter had eight punts for 426 yards, with six going 50+ and four landing inside the 20-yard line.
- The Hounds' defense locked down in the second half, allowing 145 yards and just six first downs.
- With the win, the Greyhounds snapped a four-game losing streak to the Falcons, but Bentley still leads in the all-time series 31-7.
