WORCESTER, Mass. –
Daisy Stone recorded the game-winning goal with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to cap off a 3-2 Northeast-10 Conference win for the No. 7 nationally ranked Assumption University field hockey team over Adelphi University, Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Adelphi opened the scoring in the first period, as Lana Mignon de Wet found the back of the cage off a penalty corner. Emiline Biggin doubled the Panthers' advantage early into the second quarter as she netted her sixth goal of the year.
Julia Carbone got Assumption on the board, using a turnaround shot to beat the keeper. Despite outshooting their opposition 9-4 in the first half, the Greyhounds would trail 2-1 heading into halftime.
Halfway through the third quarter,
Callie Beauparlant tied the game for the Hounds, scoring off the feed by
Nova Rijks. The game would head into the fourth quarter tied at 2-2, but with eight minutes remaining in regulation,
Chloe Kaeller threaded a 20-yard pass to
Daisy Stone, who took on her defender one-on-one and used a hard shot from the right side of the cage to beat the Adelphi keeper, putting the Greyhounds up 3-2. The Panthers could not generate any offense in the final few minutes, and Assumption would come away with a hard-fought 3-2 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette recorded three saves for her ninth win of the season.
- Assumption outshot Adelphi 20-7, while the Greyhounds had 11 corners to just two for the Panthers.
- The Hounds have now won five straight games against the visiting Panthers.
