EAST MEADOW, N.Y. –
Kiersten Browning scores once in regulation and once in the shootout to capture an extra point as the Assumption University women's ice hockey team over Long Island University following a 1-1 tie in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Saturday afternoon.

Score: Assumption University 1, Long Island University 1 – SO (2-1 Assumption)
Records: Greyhounds (0-6-2, 0-3-1 NEWHA) | Sharks (2-3-1, 2-1-1 NEWHA)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption got on the board halfway through the first period, as
Kiersten Browning picked up a loose puck in the defensive zone, went the length of the ice, toe-dragged around the defender, and beat the LIU netminder through the five-hole.
On the other side of the ice,
Jadyn Weiser was locked in, as she turned aside 28 straight shots and carried a shutout late into the third period. LIU eventually got on the scoreboard with 1:11 showing on the game clock, as Emma Mörtl beat Weiser to the far post with a wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circle.
After a scoreless overtime period, the Greyhounds would pull out a shootout win as
Jenna Chaplain and Browning finding the back of the cage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser stopped 29-of-30 shots that she faced.
- LIU outshot Assumption 66-39 while also winning 32-of-55 faceoffs.
- The Sharks were the only team that scored on the powerplay, as they went 1-1, while the Greyhounds were 0 for 2.
- The Hounds blocked 19 shots, with Lexis Kirkaby leading the way with five.
- LIU now leads the all-time series 5-0-1
