WORCESTER, Mass.—The Assumption University volleyball team dropped the fifth and deciding set to Saint Michael's College on their Senior Night in Laska Gymnasium on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Michael's started the match from behind. While Assumption held momentum early in the opening set, the Purple Knight fought back to take the set 25-22. Sharpening their play in the second set, Saint Mike's carved out a 25-20 win. Then, Assumption began to take control. Jumping out to an 11-point lead in the third set, they would cost on the lead to win 25-15. The Greyhounds continued their comeback effort in the fourth, taking the set 25-22. The Purple Knights regained their poise as the match went the distance into the fifth set. An early 4-0 lead in the set was the buffer necessary to hold on for the 15-9 win, securing the victory for Saint Michael's.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Carley Goodhue and Anna Dean led the Greyhounds offense with 12 kills each. Alexis Distasio added 11.
- Ava Fernandes had the hot hand on the serving line; she tallied a career-high seven aces.
- Kaitlyn Montgomery led the match with four solo blocks.
- The Hounds trail the all-time series against the Purple Knights 15-28.
