WORCESTER, Mass.—The Assumption University volleyball team took down Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night in Andrew Laska Gymnasium, snapping a 14-game losing streak against the Hawks.
THE BASICS:
Score: Assumption University 3, Saint Anselm College 2
Records: Greyhounds (7-13, 2-4 NE10), Hawks (7-13. 1-5 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Greyhounds traded blows with the Hawks in the first set, ultimately taking it in 25-22 fashion. Saint A's fell behind in the second set but went on a four-point rally to eclipse the Hounds and win a 27-25 set. In the third, it was close again, as Assumption looked to their seniors,
Alexis Distasio and
Carly Goodhue, who combined on back-to-back points to grab the 25-23 win. In the fourth, the Hawks, Hollyn Frano landed four key kills to take the 25-23 win, sending the match to the fifth set.
In the final frame, the Hounds rose to the occasion under pressure. Distasio couldn't be stopped; she went 4-of-5 on attacking chances, helping the Greyhounds to match-point after trailing by three. On the final play, the gym burst with energy when

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Kane had a team-leading 14 kills and a match-leading .483 hitting percentage.
- Barbara Illig made 38 digs on the night.
- Christine Mbachi tallied a career-high 3.5 blocks, while Kaitlyn Montgomery added 4.0 to help the Hounds to victory.
- Krawczyk paced the Greyhounds with 27 points, while Marisa Billone had 24.
- This was the first time Assumption beat Saint Anselm in 3,283 days, dating back to Halloween night of 2015.
- Saint A's still lead the all-time series 37-20.
