Volleyball Sweeps Franklin Pierce, 3-0

RINDGE, N.H.—The Assumption University volleyball team makes it back-to-back wins following a 3-0 sweep of Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday evening. 
 
THE BASICS

Records: Greyhounds (8-13, 3-4 NE10) | Ravens (2-16, 0-8 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption took control of the game from the opening serve, as they raced out to an early 5-1 lead before seeing it explode to a 12-4 advantage. The Ravens would battle back and cut the deficit down to two points (14-12), but the Hounds capped off the opening set on an 11-2 run, picking up a 25-16 first-set win. 


In the second set, Franklin Pierce matched Assumption point for point in the early part, but the Greyhounds rattled off six-straight points to go up 13- 5. FPU would try to tighten the set, but the Blue and White go on another 6-0 run to grow their lead to 23-13. The Ravens would not go quietly but would eventually fall in the middle frame 25-17. 
 
The third set was extremely tight throughout the set, with Franklin Pierce holding a slight edge. With the Ravens up 20-16, the Greyhounds went on a 7-0 run to go up 23-20. The two teams would trade short runs, with the Hounds closing out the set with a 3-0 run, winning the set with a 27-25 final score.
