PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Jillian McSorley scored the overtime game-winner as the No. 7 Assumption University field hockey team topped Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pace was the first team to score, as Kyleigh Kearney got the Setters on the board at 3:09 of the first quarter. Despite outshooting the opposition 14-3 in the opening 30 minutes, the hosts would carry a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
The Greyhounds would have to wait until five minutes into the second half to get on the scoreboard, where
Elle Murray tied the game. Krista Dietz regained the lead for the Setters early in the fourth quarter, but
Callie Beauparlant answered and tied the game with seven minutes remaining in regulation.
The game would head to overtime, which was decided by two big plays. First,
Paige Gillette stonewalled the reigning NFHCA East Regional Player of the Year, Krista Dietz, on a one-on-one attempt.
Jillian McSorley used the momentum of the save to go the distance and score the game-winning goal for her first collegiate goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- With the win tonight, Head Coach Annie Lahey recorded her 150th career win.
- Paige Gillette recorded six saves for her seventh win of the year.
- Assumption outshot Pace 21-11 while having ten corners to just five for the hosts.
