WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 7 Assumption University field hockey team secured a decisive 2-0 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
As teams arrived, it was a moment for Assumption head coach
Annie Lahey to reconnect with one of her former All-American players, Kylie Gargiulo, who returned to Brian Kelly '83 Stadium for the first time in a head coaching role. Gargiulo led the Hounds from between the iron to the program's first NE10 Championship in 2021.
After exchanging pleasantries, the game began. Ten minutes in,
Mia Salah opened the scoring for the Greyhounds, assisted by
Julia Carbone.
Elle Murray extended the lead with her goal at 22:32 in the second quarter, set up by Salah. The Assumption defense held strong, allowing just five shots on goal. The Yellow Jackets could not beat the sharp
Paige Gillette, minding the net, who maintained the shutout throughout the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Assumption outshot American International 26-7, with 16 shots on goal compared to five for the Yellow Jackets.
- The Greyhounds earned 14 penalty corners, while AIC managed four.
- Paige Gillette made five saves in goal for Assumption, marking her team's fifth shutout.
