WORCESTER, Mass.— Fitchburg State University struck for four second-period goals as the Assumption University men's ice hockey team fell to the Falcons 5-2 in non-conference action Tuesday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first period, where neither team could establish consistent offense, Fitchburg State exploded for four goals in the middle frame, as the Falcons scored all four goals before the 12-minute mark.
After a goalie change to begin the third period and an early goal by the visitors,
Jake DiNapoli got the Greyhounds on the board halfway through the third while on the man advantage.
Declan Chapman picked up his first collegiate goal at 14:44 as he tapped in the backdoor goal, cutting the deficit to 5-2. Despite pulling the goalie for the final 2:20, the Hounds would be unable to cut into the deficit and fall 5-2.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Hauswirth and Callum Welch combined to record 33 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Fitchburg State outshot Assumption 38-33, while the Greyhounds won 37-of-60 faceoffs.
- The Hounds were the only team to score on the power play, as they were 1-for-3, while the Falcons were 0-for-4.
- Fitchburg State leads the all-time series 40-20-1.
