WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University volleyball team fell to regionally-ranked American International College in straight sets in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening inside Laska Gymnasium.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (8-15, 3-6 NE10), Yellow Jackets (15-6, 9-0 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
American International was strong out of the gates, as they hit .333 in the opening set, while Assumption had seven attacking errors, leading to a Yellow Jackets' 25-15 win in the first frame. The second set was more evenly matched, but AIC maintained a lead throughout the frame. The Greyhounds were down 24-14 and would rattle off five straight before falling 25-19.
Assumption was the hot team to begin in the third set as they raced out to a 7-3 early lead. American International slowly chipped away at the deficit and would take their first lead of the set at 21-20 during a 4-0 run by AIC. The Yellow Jackets would continue their run to capture the third set 25-21.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Alexis Distasio led the Greyhounds with 11 kills, adding four aces and seven digs.
- Marisa Billone paced Assumption with 12 assists, with Marissa Krawczyk chipping in ten helpers and three aces.
- Barbara Illig had a team-high 18 digs, giving her 510 digs on the year, the fifth most in a single season in program history.
- AIC still leads in the all-time series, 57-5.
