WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Assumption University volleyball team closed the regular season with a 3-0 loss to the University of New Haven on Saturday evening.
THE BASICS:
Score: University of New Haven 3, Assumption University 0
Records: Greyhounds (8-16, 3-7 NE10), Chargers (18-9, 8-2 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption opened the first set strong, racing out to a 7-2 advantage, but New Haven rallied to take their first lead of the match at 18-17. The Chargers would slowly expand their lead and would take the opening set 25-22. In the second set, the hosts would establish control early and maintain that advantage to capture the middle frame 25-16.
In the third set, the Chargers nearly led wire-to-wire, as Assumption took the first point of the frame, but UNH would take the set 25-18.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Carly Goodhue led the Greyhounds with 13 kills on 26 attacks.
- Marisa Billone paced Assumption with 12 assists, while Marissa Krawczyk had eight helpers.
- Barbara Illig had a game-high 15 digs, while Alexis Distasio had ten digs.
- The Greyhounds will head to the NE10 Playoffs for the first time since the 2021 campaign.
- AIC still leads in the all-time series, 19-0
