WORCESTER, Mass.—The No. 20-13 nationally ranked Assumption University women's basketball team remains undefeated with a 74-35 Felician University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Laska Gymnasium.
THE BASICS:
Scores: Assumption University 74, Felician University 35
Records: Greyhounds (4-0, 0-0 NE10), Golden Falcons (2-2, 0-0 CACC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started fast as they shot 40.0 percent in the opening ten minutes while adding four blocks to grab an early ten-point advantage (17-7) after the opening quarter. The Greyhounds broke the game opening in the second, as they outscored Felician 20-2, held the Golden Falcons to 1-of-17 shooting from the floor, and carried a 37-9 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, the visiting team figured out some things on offense, as they more than doubled their score in the third quarter and netted 14 points in the frame. The Greyhounds continued to expand their advantage, extending their largest lead to 35 points (52-17), following a layup by
Avah Ingalls at the 1:41 marker. The fourth quarter was a mere formality, as the Hounds continued to pull away for a 74-35 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Molly Stokes led all scorers with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
- Marina Callahan stuffed the stat sheet with ten points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks.
- Kaijhe Hall led a block party for the Greyhounds, as she had four of Assumption's 12 rejections on the afternoon.
- 13-of-15 Greyhounds recorded a point on the afternoon.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 4-1.
