MANCHESTER, NH –
Patrick McKiernan recorded the game-winning goal with 1:04 remaining in regulations, as the Assumption University men's ice hockey team defeated Saint Anselm 5-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption wasted no time getting on the board, as
Jake Lavoie put the Greyhounds on the board at the 4:36 marker of the first period. Saint Anselm tied the game just under two minutes later before taking the lead just past the halfway mark of the opening frame.
The Hawks pushed their lead to two goals as Luke Linart scored in the opening moments, pushing the host's lead to 3-1. Lavoie struck for the second time in the game, as he converted on the power play at the 12:25 marker. After Saint Anselm struck again,
Thomas McGaffigan cut the deficit back to one (4-3) with his first of the year.
After a scoreless 19 minutes of the third period, the Greyhounds would capitalize with the goalie pulled. A
Jonathan Surrette wrist shot from the point beat the Hawks' netminder. The game would head to overtime, where
Patrick McKiernan would end it with a wrist shot through a screen with 1:04 remaining in the overtime period.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Callum Welch recorded a season-high 40 saves for the Hounds.
- Saint Anselm outshot Assumption 44-39 while also winning 47-of-82.
- The Greyhounds went 1-of-5 on the man advantage, while the Hawks were 0-for-1.
- With an assist on the game's first goal, Ronny Paragallo surpassed 100 career points, making him the first Hound to surpass the milestone since Taylor Larsen and Pat O'Kane, who accomplished it in 2012.
- Saint Anselm still leads the all-time series 35-17-3.
