COLCHESTER, VT.— The Assumption University women's soccer clinched a playoff spot, as the Greyhounds defeated Saint Michael's College, 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action, Wednesday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Michael's started strong, as they fired the game's first four shots, but Assumption was the first team to break through as
Elle Bristol recorded her first collegiate goal, as
Haleigh Ward assisted her in the 20
th minute. The Purple Knight continued to apply the pressure, but the Hounds would carry a 1-0 lead into the second half.
The hosts opened up the second half on the attack, as they outshot Assumption 9-6 in the first 30 minutes. Assumption doubled their lead in the 76
th minute, as
Delaney Farinha found the back of the net off of a
Maya Demello free kick. The Greyhounds would hold of the Purple Knights to secure a 2-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Frida Larrson recorded eight saves in the cage for the Greyhounds.
- Saint Michael's outshot Assumption 19-14, while the Hounds had six corners to four for the Purple Knights.
- Haleigh Ward recorded 23 points this season, the most since Kallie Villemaire tallied 34 points in 2018.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 26-8-6
