DOBBS FERRY, N.Y.—No. 20/RV Assumption University women's basketball team overcame a 13-point second-half deficit as they defeated Mercy University 63-60 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (7-1, 2-0 NE10), Mavericks (3-4, 0-0 ECC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the first quarter, the teams were evenly matched. Still, the difference was that the Greyhounds shot only 26.3 percent from the floor but also had seven offensive rebounds, leading to ten second-chance points. After 10 minutes, Assumption had a 13-12 lead. The second quarter was all Mercy, as the Mavericks went 8-of-15 from the field to outscore the Hounds 20-8 and take a 32-21 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Greyhounds started to see their shots fall as they connected on 8-of-15 of their shots in the third to cut the deficit down to six points (47-41). Assumption continued to chip away at the deficit and took their first lead of the second half, following a
Teagan Kamm layup with 4:41 remaining in regulation.
Kaijhe Hall converted on back-to-back layups, giving the Hounds a three-point advantage (58-55) with 2:11 left. Assumption would make 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to secure a 63-60 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Molly Stokes led the Greyhounds with 18 points, while Kaijhe Hall recorded a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double.
- Teagan Kamm tied a career-high 11 points, with nine in the second half.
- Assumption outrebounded Mercy 38-29 while also winning the battle of the paint (38-36).
- Assumption improves their record all-time against Mercy to 6-1.
