BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team dropped their second consecutive game, as they fell to Division I Stonehill College in non-conference action at the Bridgewater Ice Arena Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams started fast, combining to fire 41 shots in the opening frame. The main difference was that Stonehill's shots made it through to Thomas McLarnon, who recorded 17 saves for Assumption, while only six shots were on target for the visitors. The two teams would head into the first-period intermission tied at 0-0.
The Greyhounds would break through first, as Ryan Decker capitalized on a 3-on-0 breakaway, where Matt Keohane and Dara Connelly recorded helpers on the goal. The Skyhawks responded 58 seconds later, as the shot from the point, was put in by Jake Cady put home the loose puck. Stonehill took their first lead of the contest as Ryan King beat McLarnon to the high glove side, making it 2-1. The game would head to the third period with the Skyhawks up 2-1 after outshooting the Greyhounds 19-9 in the frame.
In the third period, the shots evened out, but Stonehill still had a 12-8 advantage. Cody would tip in a goal with just over five minutes remaining to secure a 3-1 win for the hosts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Thomas McLarnon made 45 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Stonehill outshot Assumption 48-23 while also winning 39 of 64 face-offs.
- Neither side scored on the man advantage, as the Greyhounds were 0-for-2 and the Skyhawks were 0-for-4.
